FAQ

What do you do?

I am a professional musician, which means that performing music is my professional activity, not an amateur hobby. I offer a selection of classical and jazz music for wedding ceremonies & receptions, corporate events, private parties and recitals and also perform with orchestras and choirs in the UK and abroad.

What kind of music do you play?

I play Classical and jazz music encompassing music from the Renaissance (around the 16th Century) to the present day. Listen to samples on the homepage.

Can you advise what music is suitable?

Yes, I am happy to discuss your requirements by phone, email or face to face. If you are not sure what would be suitable for your event then I can advise according to the type of venue, event and audience, drawing on my experience to date.

Do you take requests?

Yes, but it’s advisable to make special requests list before the event – ideally when you book – to avoid disappointment and to make sure I bring your selection with me.

How long do you play for?

That depends on the type of event, but actual playing time ranges from about 30 minutes to several hours of live music per function.

Can you do civil or Church weddings?

Both.I am experienced in the etiquette for either type of ceremony, and am aware which types of music are restricted in each case. (For example, you are not allowed religious music at a civil ceremony, which rules out the Hallelujah Chorus and Ave Maria, for instance). I can even source an organist for a church ceremony if you wish. I have also performed at weddings for non-Christian religions, for example Buddhist. I am happy to play for same-sex partnerships.

What venues do you play?

Churches, cathedrals, hotels, restaurants, castles, gardens, marquees, village halls, theatres, concert halls, private homes… the list is endless!

What about the size of the event?

As a soloist, the type of music I play is suitable for very small private events of a dozen people to those catering for around 150 people.

Acoustic or amplified music?

Acoustic music is suitable for smaller events or where there is no power supply, for example in the middle of a garden. Amplified music via my quality PA system can be used at any size of event up to around150 people providing power is available. You can also use my equipment for speeches and personal announcements.

What areas do you cover?

I currently perform as a soloist in: Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, West Midlands, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, Berkshire and some areas of London.

Can you play outdoors?

Yes. I can play flute music anywhere and in any weather as it is exceptionally portable and requires no electric power. However, where the PA system is to be used I can play under shelter within reach of a power socket.

How do I check availability?

Just email, call or text using the contact details on this site.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

Yes, 20% deposit when you book which is deducted from the final balance due on the performance date.

How do I reserve or book a date?

First check availability. When I confirm availability I will send you booking forms; once you have returned these your booking is complete.
